The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Mega's (1-5) road loss to ninth ranked Kutaisi (2-3) 73-82 on Thursday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-21. But Mega won second period 16-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kutaisi forced 25 Mega turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international point guard Luka Maziashvili (187-2000, college: UMass Lowell) scored 17 points, 8 assists and 6 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Jarvis Ray (198-1990, college: TCU) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Maziashvili is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Kutaisi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Marqus Gilson (196, college: CWU) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and swingman Otari Buliava (198-1994) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Batumi. Loser Mega keeps the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Vera. Kutaisi will meet Titebi (#9) in the next round. Mega's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Olimpi.
