Korisliiga top team - Peli-Karhut (11-1) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Catz Lappeenranta (0-12) in Kotka 107-58. The game without a history. Peli-Karhut led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Catz Lappeenranta's 32. They outrebounded Catz Lappeenranta 53-21 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Peli-Karhut looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Catz Lappeenranta's players. The best player for the winners was forward Noora Jarvikangas (184-1994, college: ORU) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-1990, college: Portland) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Raziyah Farrington (173-1997, college: Charleston) who recorded 14 points and 4 steals and forward Elli Heikkila (181-2002) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Peli-Karhut have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-1 record. Loser Catz Lappeenranta still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Peli-Karhut will meet at home league's second-placed Espoo Team in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Torpan Pojat (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
