Regular Season Round 9: Melilla - Oviedo 67-70

Bottom-ranked Oviedo managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time they edged twelfth-ranked Melilla 70-67. And what about a second win in a row after ...seven consecutive losses. Oviedo dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Melilla's 28. Oviedo forced 25 Melilla turnovers. It was a good game for center Oliver Arteaga (207-1983) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Romeo Crouch (193, college: Embry Riddle) contributed with 14 points and 5 steals for the winners. Point guard Javier Santana (190-1999) answered with 14 points and 5 assists and swingman Guillermo Mulero (191-1997) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Melilla. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Oviedo (2-7) moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Albacete. Melilla at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Oviedo will play against higher ranked Valladolid (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Melilla will play against Alicante (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
