Regular Season Round 9: Daugavpils - RSU 66-84

One of the most interesting games of round 9 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. Seventh ranked RSU won against host Daugavpils Universitate (1-6) 84-66. RSU forced 20 Daugavpils Universitate turnovers. Guard Enija Viksne (178-2004) stepped up and scored 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Mara Mote (178-2000, college: Arizona) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Latvian forward Lauma Poikane (178-2003) with 12 points and 8 rebounds and guard Tamirise Simonova (169-2007) scored 14 points. Four RSU and five Daugavpils Universitate players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. RSU (5-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with Kibirkstis-MRU. Daugavpils Universitate lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. RSU will meet at home league's leader Neptunas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Daugavpils Universitate will play against Kibirkstis-MRU (#3) in Vilnius and hope to win that game.
