Very important is a road loss of second ranked Gran Canaria (7-3) against ninth ranked Bilbao (6-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Gran Canaria was defeated by Bilbao in a tough game in Bilbao 72-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gran Canaria. Worth to mention a great performance of Swedish point guard Ludvig Hakanson (189-1996, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 27 points. American point guard Adam Smith (185-1992, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Bilbao players scored in double figures. Senegalese center Khalifa Diop (215-2002) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and international guard Ferran Bassas (181-1992) added 13 points in the effort for Gran Canaria. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Bilbao have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Joventut. Gran Canaria at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Bilbao will play against Obradoiro (#12) in Santiago de Compostela in the next round where they are favorite. Gran Canaria will play at home against Baskonia (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
