Regular Season Round 8: Saint Vallier - Angers 94-91

There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Saint Vallier (3-5) edged at home higher ranked Etoile Angers (5-3) 94-91 on Saturday. Saint Vallier made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Jazzmarr Ferguson (185-1989, college: IU Southeast) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and Spanish point guard Xavier Forcada (193-1988) who added 14 points and 12 assists during the contest. American-Bahamas forward Jonathan Augustin-Fairell (201-1993, college: Murray St.) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Shawn Tanner (197-2001) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Saint Vallier moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Aix-Maurienne and St. Chamond. Newly promoted Etoile Angers keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Saint Vallier will meet higher ranked Boulazac Basket (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Etoile Angers will play against Chalons-Reims and hope to secure a win.
