Regular Season Round 13: Rubon - Borisfen 92-65

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Borisfen (12-2) in Vitebsk on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by third ranked Rubon (9-5) 92-65. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Borisfen. Rubon dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Borisfen's 34. Rubon forced 20 Borisfen turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Borisfen's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian point guard Ernesto Tkachuk (190-1994, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 assists and 6 steals. The former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-1986) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Five Rubon players scored in double figures. Swingman Illia Palanevich (193-1999) answered with 12 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Malik Porter (196, college: Idaho St.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Borisfen. Borisfen's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Rubon have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader Tsmoki-Minsk U20. Borisfen at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Rubon are looking forward to face Gomel (#6) on the road in the next round. Borisfen will play against the league's second-placed Grodno (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
