There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Benahavis (1-6) won against at home 9th ranked Marbella (2-5) 71-66 on Saturday. Benahavis dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Marbella's 22. Guard Pedro Lopez (187-2000) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Ismael Torres (201-1979) supported him with 22 points. Benahavis' coach Rai Sanchez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 13 points and 8 rebounds by point guard Lucas Munoz (184-2001) did not help to save the game for Marbella. Serbian-Croatian forward Uros Cica (201-2000) added 14 points and 4 assists for lost side. Benahavis left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. It was Marbella's third loss in a row. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Murgi. Benahavis will meet higher ranked Unicaja-Andalucia (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Marbella will play against Eurogaza and hope to secure a win.
