Rather predictable result when third ranked Udine (8-1) beat on the road 6th ranked Mantova (5-4) 49-44 on Saturday. Strangely Mantova outrebounded Udine 43-30 including 35 on the defensive glass. French power forward Angelina Turmel (197-1996, agency: Basket Promotion Agency) stepped up and scored 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and point guard Giorgia Bovenzi (165-2002) chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Udine's coach Massimo Riga used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was swingman Marida Orazzo (175-1994, agency: LBM Management) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized Argentinian power forward Florencia Llorente (182-1992) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Udine. They maintain third place with 8-1 record having just one victory less than leader Milano. Loser Mantova dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Udine will meet at home Treviso (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
