Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Helsinki: Torpan Pojat (#3) and Marsky Helsinki (#7). Torpan Pojat (8-4) won against visiting Marsky Helsinki (4-8) 86-75. It looked good early as Marsky Helsinki took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Torpan Pojat had a 23-20 second period charge getting the lead and Marsky Helsinki was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-86. Torpan Pojat players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Marsky Helsinki's players. The winners were led by American forward Iimari Thomas (178-2000, college: UCLA) who scored that evening 27 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-1977, college: Xavier) supported her with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. Even 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) by forward Fiia Hellsten (183-2005) did not help to save the game for Marsky Helsinki. The former international guard Kati Ollilainen (173-2003) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Torpan Pojat maintains third position with 8-4 record having just three points less than leader PeKa. Marsky Helsinki at the other side dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Kouvot. Torpan Pojat will play against bottom-ranked Catz Lappeenranta (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Marsky Helsinki will play against Kouvottaret and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
