Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Matelica (0-10) was defeated at home by fifteenth ranked Empoli (2-8) 71-62 on Sunday. Empoli made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Power forward Daniele Sesoldi (195-1992) scored 23 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Alessandro Antonini (191-1999) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side naturalized Senegalese center Fadilou Seck (207-1997, agency: Players Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and guard Gianpaolo Riccio (193-1996, college: Ave Maria) scored 9 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Empoli moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Pescara Bsk A. Newly promoted Matelica still closes the standings with ten games lost. They share the position with Langhe Roero and Pozzuoli. Empoli will meet at home higher ranked Imola Virtus (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
