Rather expected game when 9th ranked Leon (4-5) was edged on the road by seventh ranked Logrono (6-3) 83-82 on Sunday. Strangely Leon outrebounded Logrono 46-29 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Maria Gonzalez (175-1998) fired 14 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Maria Angulo chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Dominican Cesarina Capellan (178-2003) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds and Marina Fernandez-Pacheco (-2000) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Logrono moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Almeria. Leon lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. Logrono will meet at home Almeria (#4) in the next round. Leon will play against Sevilla (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
