Regular Season Round 9: Battipaglia - Firenze 60-56

The game between second ranked Firenze (6-3) and fifth ranked Battipaglia (6-3) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Firenze was defeated by Battipaglia in a tough game in Battipaglia 56-60. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Firenze. Strangely Firenze outrebounded Battipaglia 46-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was naturalized American forward Bree Alford (183-1996, college: LMU) who scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Sarah Seka (177-2003) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four Battipaglia players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Flavia De Cassan (175-1998, agency: SLN) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and French center Alexandrine Fegue (193-1997, college: UCSD) added 6 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Battipaglia moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Firenze. Battipaglia is looking forward to face Cagliari (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Firenze will play against La Spezia (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
