There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Mondragon (4-4) beat at home higher ranked Getxo (5-4) 100-84 on Sunday. They outrebounded Getxo 44-33 including 29 on the defensive glass. Swingman Andoni Acha (195-1999) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Alex Ramon (186-1993, college: Colgate) supported him with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Four Mondragon players scored in double figures. Mondragon's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 20 points by guard Carlos Gil (185-1993) did not help to save the game for Getxo. Nahuel Del Val (187-2001) added 18 points for lost side. Mondragon moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Getxo lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with 7 other teams. Mondragon will meet Santurtzi (#7) on the road in the next round. Getxo will play against Tabirako and hope to secure a win.
