The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Craiova's (3-4) home victory over bottom-ranked Targu Jiu (0-7) 89-75 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Craiova looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Targu Jiu's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Dimitrije Nikolic (212-1997) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and the former international point guard Giordan Watson (179-1985, college: CMU) who added 10 points and 13 assists during the contest. Greek center Thomas Kottas (206-1996) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Dylan Frye (188-1997, college: BGSU) scored 16 points. Five Craiova and four Targu Jiu players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Craiova moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Targu Jiu still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Laguna S.. Craiova will meet higher ranked Rapid (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Targu Jiu will play against Sibiu (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
