Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Melilla (2-10) was rolled over on the road by seventh ranked Alcobendas (7-6) 76-50. Alcobendas held Melilla to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.7 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Melilla 50-34 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Power forward Paula Justel (186-1992) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Rachel Howard (178-1995, college: USF) accounted for 14 points. Four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Bojana Stevanovic (180-1996) came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Danish Sofie Preetzmann (182-1995) added 8 points respectively for Melilla in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alcobendas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Al-Qazeres and Ardoi. Newly promoted Melilla keeps the fifteenth position with ten games lost. Alcobendas will play against Lima-Horta (#12) in Barcelona in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Melilla will play at home against Picken Claret and hopes to get back on the winning track.
