Rather expected game when 12th ranked Lucca (1-9) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Moncalieri (5-5) 79-66 on Tuesday. Moncalieri dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Lucca's 40. They outrebounded Lucca 36-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Moncalieri looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Kathryn Westbeld (190-1996, college: Notre Dame) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. DR Congolese center Lydie Katshitshi (184-1998) chipped in 24 points (made all of her eight free throws). Dutch forward Kourtney Treffers (187-1994, agency: LBM Management) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Que Morrison (171, college: Georgia, agency: LBM Management) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Lucca's coach Luca Andreoli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Moncalieri have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ragusa and San Martino. Lucca lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. They share it with Valdarno and Brescia. Moncalieri will meet higher ranked Venezia (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lucca will play against Ragusa (#9) and hope to win that game.
