Regular Season Round 8: Duga - Zagreb 89-62

An interesting game for Serbian Duga (5-3) which hosted in Sabac one of their biggest challengers Croatian Zagreb (3-5). Third ranked Duga had an easy win 89-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zagreb. The game without a history. Duga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 20 Zagreb turnovers and outrebounded them 37-26 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Duga looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by forward Olga Stepanovic (180-1994) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American forward Courtney Cleveland (178-1999, college: SHSU) supported her with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Five Duga players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by forward Lea Miletic (184-1995) did not help to save the game for Zagreb. Guard Marta Ostojic (185-2003, college: Ole Miss) added 13 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Duga maintains third position with 5-3 record having just one point less than leader Celje. Loser Zagreb keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Duga will again meet at home Zagreb (#4) in the next round. Zagreb will have a break next round.
