Fourth-ranked KR (6-6) made lots of trouble for top-ranked Stjarnan (11-0) in Reykjavik on Tuesday. The visitors from Stjarnan managed to secure only three-point victory 86-83. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 27-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Stjarnan forced 24 KR turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Dilja Larusdottir (172-2003) who scored 31 points and 4 steals. American center Riley Popplewell (180-1997, college: USC Upstate) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Violet Morrow (176-1997, college: EWU, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds and guard Lea Gunnarsdottir (174-2003) added 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. KR's coach Hordur Unnsteinsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Stjarnan have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-0 record. KR lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Hamar. Stjarnan are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Breidablik B (#9) in Kopavogur in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
