Regular Season Round 14: Pyrinto - Vilpas 82-99

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Tampere where 8th ranked Pyrinto (6-7) was defeated by ninth ranked Vilpas (7-7) 99-82. The game was mostly controlled by Vilpas. Pyrinto was better in fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vilpas shot 60.7 percent from the field. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American forward KeyShawn Feazell (206-1998, college: Creighton) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Mikko Koivisto (194-1987, college: UNCG, agency: Blacktop Management) supported him with 20 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Daytone Jennings (206-1997, college: CSUSB) did not help to save the game for Pyrinto. His fellow American import guard LJ Thorpe (196-1999, college: UNC Asheville) added 19 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Five Vilpas and four Pyrinto players scored in double figures. Vilpas moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Nokia. Pyrinto at the other side dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Vilpas will play against higher ranked Kobrat (#4) in Lapua in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pyrinto will play on the road against Seagulls (#3) in Helsinki and hopes to get back on the winning track.
