There was a minor upset when 4th placed Piacentina (7-4) lost on the road to seventh ranked Firenze (7-4) 101-86 on Wednesday. Firenze looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized Albanian Franko Bushati (191-1985) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 assists. Center Marco Di Pizzo (205-1998, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Power forward Alessandro Cecchetti (200-1991, agency: SLN) came up with 25 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Gabriele Berra (195-2000, agency: SLN) added 18 points respectively for Piacentina in the defeat. Five Firenze and four Piacentina players scored in double figures. Firenze moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 7 other teams including defeated Piacentina. Firenze will meet league's leader Rieti Real on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Piacentina will play against Faenza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
