Regular Season Round 12: Haukar - Fjolnir 92-77

No shocking result in a game in Hafnarfjordur where second ranked Haukar (10-2) defeated 5th ranked Fjolnir (4-8) 92-77. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. Fjolnir was better in third quarter 24-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar forced 26 Fjolnir turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Haukar brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was a good game for the former international guard Tinna Alexandersdottir (177-2003) who led her team to a victory with 30 points and 4 assists. American guard Keira Robinson (170-1994, college: VCU) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals for the winners. U.S. Virgin Islands guard Taylor Jones (173-1997, college: Oakland) replied with 23 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Sigrun Amundadottir (181-1988) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Fjolnir. Five Haukar and four Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Haukar maintains second position with 10-2 record behind leader Keflavik. Fjolnir at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Grindavik. Haukar will play against Njardvik (#4) on the road in the next round. Fjolnir's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik Valur.
