Regular Season Round 9: Keflavik - Hottur 71-62

Subway League top team - Keflavik (7-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat ninth ranked Hottur (3-6) 71-62. It looked good early as Hottur took a 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Keflavik took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 9 points. They made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Keflavik outrebounded Hottur 48-30 including 35 on the defensive glass. Lithuanian center Dominykas Milka (203-1992, college: St.Rose, NY) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and American-Puerto Rican guard Eric Ayala (196-1999, college: Maryland) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Montenegrin power forward Nemanja Knezevic (205-1987) with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Keflavik have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-2 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Hottur lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Keflavik will play against IR (#10) in Reykjavik in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hottur will play at home against the league's second-placed Breidablik and hopes to get back on the winning track.
