Regular Season Round 9: St. Chamond - Chalon/Saone 93-99
Date: December 9, 2022
Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Saint Chamond (3-6) lost at home to third ranked Chalon/Saor (6-3) 99-93 on Friday. Chalon/Saor looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for Swedish center Mattias Markusson (220-1996, college: LMU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Antoine Eito (188-1988) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Chalon/Saor players scored in double figures. Center Mathieu Boyer (208-1995) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Nigerian-American forward Josh Ajayi (201-1996, college: USA) added 15 points in the effort for Saint Chamond. Saint Chamond's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chalon/Saor maintains third place with 6-3 record behind leader Antibes, which they share with 3 other teams. Saint Chamond lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Aix-Maurienne and Saint Vallier. Chalon/Saor is looking forward to face Quimper UJAP (#7) at home in the next round. Saint Chamond will play against Saint Vallier (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
