Regular Season Round 9: Angers - Chalons-Reims 81-93

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Chalons-Reims (5-4) beat on the road 4th placed Etoile Angers (5-4) 93-81 on Friday. Chalons-Reims shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Marquis Jackson (183-1994, college: Ohio Christian) who led his team to a victory with 40 points (!!!) and 4 steals (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). Point guard Mathis Keita (192-1992, college: IUP) contributed with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American point guard Akaemji Williams (175-1996, college: LSSU) answered with 8 points and 8 assists and Guyanese forward Youri Morose (202-1997) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Etoile Angers. Four Etoile Angers players scored in double figures. Etoile Angers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chalons-Reims moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Etoile Angers. Chalons-Reims is looking forward to face league's leader Olympique Antibes at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Etoile Angers will play against Denain Voltaire (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
