Regular Season Round 11: La Matanza - Quintanar 101-70
Date: December 10, 2022
Everything could happen in Las Palmas at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked La Matanza and 5th ranked Quintanar had identical 5-3 record. This time La Matanza used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Quintanar 101-70 on Saturday night. La Matanza dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Quintanar's 38. La Matanza forced 19 Quintanar turnovers. The best player for the winners was Alvaro Gomez (195-2000) who scored 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Adrian Perez chipped in 23 points and 6 steals. Center Christopher Iza (209-1995) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and forward Ignacio Condes (191-2001) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for La Matanza. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Quintanar dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with 10 other teams. La Matanza will meet Valsequillo (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Quintanar will play against Estudiantes B (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
