There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Zaragoza (3-8) won against at home higher ranked Granada (5-6) 73-57 on Saturday. They outrebounded Granada 44-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Santiago Yusta (200-1997) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Justinian Jessup (201-1998, college: Boise St.) accounted for 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Liberian-American guard Thomas Bropleh (196-1991, college: Boise St.) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Senegalese center Mamadou Niang (209-1994) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Granada in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zaragoza moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Fuenlabrada. Granada lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Zaragoza will meet Girona (#16) on the road in the next round. Granada will play against Valencia (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
