No shocking result in a game when third ranked Valladolid (8-3) won against at home 8th ranked Alicante (6-5) 68-52 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American center Kevin Allen (209-1994, college: Emporia St., agency: Players Group) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Swedish point guard Melwin Pantzar (190-2000) chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Eduard Gatell (206-1989) produced 5 points and 10 rebounds and Montenegrin guard Nikola Rakocevic (192-1991) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Valladolid. They maintain third place with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Palencia, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Alicante dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Gipuzkoa and Cantabria. Valladolid will meet league's second-placed Andorra on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Alicante will play against Almansa (#11) and hope to secure a win.
