Very important is a road loss of third ranked Gernika (7-4) against fifth ranked Valencia (8-3) on Saturday night. Visiting Gernika was defeated by Valencia in Valencia 83-73. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gernika. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Valencia made 18-of-18 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Lauren Cox (193-1998, college: Baylor, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Leticia Romero (173-1995, college: FSU) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Valencia's coach Ruben Burgos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Brooque Williams (172-1989, college: California, PA) replied with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Italian swingman Laura Spreafico (183-1991, agency: LBM Management) added 16 points in the effort for Gernika. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Valencia have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Gernika at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Valencia will play against bottom-ranked Tenerife (#16) in San Cristobal in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
