Regular Season Round 14: Gomel - Rubon 52-96

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Gomel (0-15) was crushed at home by third ranked Rubon (10-5) 96-52 on Saturday. Rubon forced 27 Gomel turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Rubon looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian center Maksym Kozlovets (200-1990, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Ukrainian point guard Ernesto Tkachuk (190-1994, agency: BIG) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 assists and 4 steals. Five Rubon players scored in double figures. Viktor Golotsukov (-1999) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Aliaksandr Yasevich (185-2001) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rubon have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Grodno. Loser Gomel still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Rubon will meet Tsmoki II (#5) in the next round. Gomel will play against the league's leader Borisfen in Mogilev and hopes to get finally their first victory.
