No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked San Martino (6-5) defeated on the road 11th ranked Faenza (2-9) 76-65 on Saturday. San Martino made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Faenza turnovers. Strangely Faenza outrebounded San Martino 39-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Croatian center Nina Dedic (187-1996) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Ilaria Milazzo (173-1994) helped adding 19 points. Five San Martino players scored in double figures. Nigerian forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (188-1997, college: Northwestern) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds and American guard Jori Davis (178-1989, college: Indiana) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Faenza's coach Simona Ballardini rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. San Martino maintains seventh place with 6-5 record, which they share with Ragusa. Faenza lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Crema. San Martino will meet at home higher ranked Venezia (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Faenza will play against Crema (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
