There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Carugate (4-6) defeated on the road higher ranked Bolzano BC (4-6) 69-63 on Saturday. Point guard Francesca Cassani (180-1995) notched 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Martina Baiardo (178-1995) supported her with 16 points. Even a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds by Polish Aneta Kotnis (186-1989) did not help to save the game for Bolzano BC. Power forward Giorgia Assentato (176-1999) added 18 points for lost side. Carugate moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Bolzano BC. Carugate will meet at home league's second-placed Scrivia in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bolzano BC will play against Treviso (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
