Regular Season Round 11: Twarde Pierniki - Spojnia 92-88

Bottom-ranked Twarde Pierniki managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of five consecutive losses. This time they won against eighth-ranked Spojnia in Torun 92-88. Twarde Pierniki made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Spojnia was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Serbian guard Vasa Pusica (196-1995, college: Northeastern) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 4 assists. Wojciech Tomaszewski (196-2002) helped adding 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. American point guard Courtney Fortson (180-1988, college: Arkansas) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import center Barret Benson (208-1997, college: SIU) scored 23 points. Spojnia's coach Sebastian Machowski tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Twarde Pierniki (2-9) moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Astoria. Spojnia at the other side keeps the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Arka. Twarde Pierniki will play against higher ranked MKS DG (#10) in Dabrowa Gornicza in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spojnia will play at home against Enea Zastal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
