Regular Season Round 11: Lucca - Ragusa 74-77

Twelfth-ranked Lucca (1-10) made lots of trouble for eighth ranked Ragusa (6-5) on Sunday. The visitors from Ragusa managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Ragusa outrebounded Lucca 40-25 including a 36-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for British-American power forward Kristine Anigwe (193-1997, college: California) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 18 rebounds. Latvian center Kristine Vitola (196-1991, college: UTEP) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Que Morrison (171, college: Georgia, agency: LBM Management) responded with 17 points and 4 steals and Finnish center Helmi Tulonen (191-1998, college: Duquesne, agency: LBM Management) scored 15 points. Lucca's coach Luca Andreoli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ragusa. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with San Martino. Lucca lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. They share it with Valdarno and Brescia. Ragusa will meet higher ranked San Giovanni (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lucca will play against Brescia (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
