Regular Season Round 11: Valencia - Girona 104-69
Date: December 11, 2022
Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Girona (2-9) was outscored on the road by twelfth ranked Valencia (5-6) 104-69 on Sunday. Valencia shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Girona's players. It was an exceptional evening for Cuban Jasiel Rivero (206-1993, agency: Pro Sports) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Slovenian Klemen Prepelic (191-1992) accounted for 12 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. American swingman Kameron Taylor (198-1994, college: Seton Hill) came up with 20 points and Croatian power forward Roko Prkacin (206-2002, agency: AltusBasket) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Girona in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Girona lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Manresa and Real Betis. Valencia will meet Granada (#9) on the road in the next round. Girona will play against Zaragoza (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
