There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Polonia (3-11) defeated higher ranked Miast Szkla (6-8) in Krosno 82-70 on Sunday. Polonia forced 20 Miast Szkla turnovers. American guard Alphonso Willis (188-1998, college: A&M-Commerce) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and Michal Chrabota (196-1999) supported him with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Polonia's coach Mariusz Bacik used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds by Latvian center Klavs Dubults (203-1996) did not help to save the game for Miast Szkla. Forward Maksymilian Zagorski (198-1999) added 13 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Newly promoted Polonia maintains seventeenth position with 3-11 record. Loser Miast Szkla keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Polonia will meet at home higher ranked Slask (#12) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Miast Szkla will play against Enea Basket (#8) in Poznan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
