Regular Season Round 14: Paterna - Joventut 67-58

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Joventut (10-3) against fifth ranked Paterna (9-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Joventut was defeated by Paterna in a tough game in Paterna 58-67. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Joventut. Paterna forced 23 Joventut turnovers. Point guard Elena Buenavida (174-2004) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 5 steals. Center Awa Thiam (192-2006, college: Pima CC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Paterna players scored in double figures. Russian power forward Maria Davydova (190-1993, college: FIU) replied with 12 points and 8 rebounds and forward Gala Mestres (185-1994, college: Mount Royal) added 12 points in the effort for Joventut. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paterna maintains fifth position with 9-5 record. Joventut at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Celta Zorka. Paterna will play against Estepona (#9) in the next round. Joventut will play against Melilla (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
