Regular Season Round 11: Murgi - El Pinar 80-85

No shocking result in a game when third ranked El Pinar (6-2) won against on the road 9th ranked Murgi (2-6) 85-80 on Sunday. They outrebounded Murgi 47-36 including 37 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was naturalized Brazilian guard Carlinhos Cobos (193-1988) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Guard Guillermo Lopez (187-1996) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Miguel Lopez (-1981) produced 24 points and 6 rebounds and forward Cristian Ramon (197-1992) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Murgi players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for El Pinar. They moved-up to second place, which they share with CBSFDO. Murgi lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. El Pinar will meet at home league's leader La Zubia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Murgi will play against Novaschool (#6) in Malaga and hope to secure a win.
