Regular Season Round 12: Mantova - Cento 66-81
Date: December 11, 2022
Not a big story in a game in Mirandola where 7th ranked Mantova (5-7) was defeated by second ranked Cento (9-3) 81-66 on Sunday. Cento dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Mantova's 22 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Derrick Marks (191-1993, college: Boise St., agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording 20 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and point guard Giovanni Tomassini (188-1988) who added 14 points and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward LaQuinton Ross (203-1992, college: Ohio St.) with 12 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Anthony Miles (184-1989, college: Lamar) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mantova's coach Giorgio Valli rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cento have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Pistoia and Forli. Loser Mantova dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. They share the position with San Severo and Rimini. Cento will meet at home Chieti (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mantova will play against Ferrara (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
