Regular Season Round 14: Pyra - AZS UMK 84-78

Very important is a road loss of third ranked AZS UMK (10-4) against fourth ranked Pyra (11-3) on Sunday night. Visiting AZS UMK was defeated by Pyra in a tough game in Poznan 78-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of AZS UMK. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Pyra dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to AZS UMK's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Marcin Flieger (185-1984) who scored 26 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Przemyslaw Szymanski (198-1984) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Pyra players scored in double figures. Point guard Przemyslaw Tradecki (185-1989) produced 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Rwandan Adelin Ndashimye (186-2001) added 13 points and 14 rebounds respectively for the guests. Pyra have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Tarnovia. Loser AZS UMK dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Pyra will meet AMW Gdynia (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. AZS UMK will play against SMS PZKosz (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
