Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Venezia (9-2) outscored at home 8th ranked Moncalieri (5-6) 69-50 on Sunday. Venezia made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Venezia outrebounded Moncalieri 48-26 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international forward Martina Fassina (183-1999) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Sara Madera (187-2000, agency: Players Group) helped adding 9 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Kathryn Westbeld (190-1996, college: Notre Dame) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Chelsea Mitchell (175-1997, college: Morgan St.) scored 14 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Moncalieri's coach Marco Spanu rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Venezia moved-up to second place, which they share with Bologna and Sassari. Loser Moncalieri dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Venezia will meet San Martino (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Moncalieri will play against Campobasso and hope to secure a win.
