Regular Season Round 13: Njardvik - Haukar 77-81

An interesting game for Haukar (11-2) which played road game in Njardvik against 4th placed Njardvik (8-5). Second ranked Haukar managed to get a 4-point victory 81-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Njardvik. The guests were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 7-point deficit before their 28-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. Haukar made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Njardvik turnovers. The former international guard Tinna Alexandersdottir (177-2003) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) (made all of her seven free throws) for the winners and American guard Keira Robinson (170-1994, college: VCU) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. At the losing side American guard Aliyah Collier (183-1997, college: Clemson) responded with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 21 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals and the former international forward Isabella Sigurdardottir (187-1997) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Haukar have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-2 record behind leader Keflavik. Defending champion Njardvik keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Haukar will play against Breidablik (#7) in Kopavogur in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Njardvik will play on the road against Valur in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
