Very predictable result in Bytom where twelfth ranked Slask (7-8) defeated 17th ranked Polonia (3-12) 78-61 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Polonia 51-33 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Maciej Bender (211-1997, college: Mercer, agency: Octagon Europe) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Aleksander Wisniewski (192-2003, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Slask players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Alphonso Willis (188-1998, college: A&M-Commerce) who recorded 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Marek Piechowicz (201-1988) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slask moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Opole and Krosno. Newly promoted Polonia keeps the seventeenth position with 12 games lost. Slask will meet at home Enea Basket (#12) in the next round. Polonia will play against Kotwica (#6) in Kolobrzeg and hope to secure a win.
