Regular Season Round 13: Catz - ToPo 56-88

Bottom-ranked Catz Lappeenranta (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-56 loss to third ranked Torpan Pojat (9-4) in Lappeenranta. It looked good early as Catz Lappeenranta took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Torpan Pojat had a 22-15 second period charge getting the lead and Catz Lappeenranta was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 56-88. They outrebounded Catz Lappeenranta 45-29 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Saana Kujala (184-2002) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Iimari Thomas (178-2000, college: UCLA) contributed with 28 points for the winners. American center Terri Battle (188-1999, college: Tampa) answered with 10 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Raziyah Farrington (173-1997, college: Charleston) added 17 points in the effort for Catz Lappeenranta. The victory was the third consecutive win for Torpan Pojat. They maintain third place with 9-4 record having just three points less than leader PeKa. Catz Lappeenranta lost their thirteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost. Torpan Pojat will play against league's second-placed Espoo Team at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Kouvottaret (#9) in Kouvola and hopes to get finally their first victory.
