There was no surprise in Lappeenranta where 13th ranked LrNMKY (3-8) was defeated by second ranked HyPo (8-3) 77-67 on Thursday. The game without a history. HyPo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. HyPo forced 20 LrNMKY turnovers. It was a great evening for point guard Roy Hinkkanen (182-1997) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 5 steals. Guard Jimi Viita (180-2005) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four HyPo players scored in double figures. HyPo's coach Janne Hartikainen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Johan Immonen (187-1999) responded with 26 points and 6 rebounds and guard Yonis Mohammed (187) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for HyPo. They maintain second place with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader JyWe, which they share with Ura Basket. Loser LrNMKY keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Team Pajulahti. HyPo will meet at home Team Pajulahti (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. LrNMKY will play against Pantterit in Helsinki and hope to secure a win.
