Regular Season Round 10: Thor Thorl - Stjarnan 128-104

There was an upset in Thorlakshofn where higher ranked Stjarnan (4-6) was crushed by twelfth ranked Thor Thorl (2-8) 128-104 on Thursday. The game without a history. Thor Thorl led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 61.4 percent from the field and made 26-of-29 free shots (89.7 percent) during the game. Thor Thorl looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Stjarnan's players. American point guard Vinnie Shahid (180-1998, college: NDSU) fired a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 13 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. International swingman Styrmir Thrastarson (200-2001, college: Davidson, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 26 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Four Thor Thorl players scored in double figures. American point guard Robert Turner III (190-1993, college: Texas Tech, agency: Interperformances) produced 29 points and 4 assists and Lithuanian power forward Julius Jucikas (204-1989, agency: BIG) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Thor Thorl moved-up to tenth place, which they share with IR. Stjarnan lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Hottur. Thor Thorl will meet higher ranked Grindavik (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Stjarnan will play against KR and hope to secure a win.
