Very important is a road loss of second ranked Breidablik (7-3) against ninth ranked Hottur (4-6) on Thursday night. Visiting Breidablik was crushed by Hottur in Egilsstadir 91-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Breidablik. The game was mostly controlled by Hottur. Breidablik was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hottur dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Breidablik's 20 and made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Breidablik 50-28 including a 40-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Croatian forward Matej Karlovic (200-1989) supported him with 18 points. Four Hottur players scored in double figures. Even 19 points by American guard Everage Richardson (191-1985, college: Coastal) did not help to save the game for Breidablik. His fellow American import guard Jeremy Smith (190-1991, college: Nicholls St.) added 13 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hottur moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Stjarnan. Breidablik at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Njardvik. Hottur will play against IR (#10) in Reykjavik in the next round. Breidablik will play at home against Haukar (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
