There was a small surprise when seventh ranked STB Le Havre (10-6) edged one of their biggest challengers SOPCC (10-6) in Pont de Cheruy 82-79 on Friday. STB Le Havre made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when STB Le Havre made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American forward Fred Thomas (196-1993, college: MSU) who scored that evening 29 points and forward Damien Nseke Ebele (199-2000) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. STB Le Havre's coach Fabrice Courcier used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 24 points and 4 assists by naturalized Mali guard Ludovic Chelle (186-1983) did not help to save the game for SOPCC. Forward Lucas Thevenard (202-1998) added 11 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Five SOPCC players scored in double figures. STB Le Havre have a solid three-game winning streak.
