There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Bembibre (5-7) beat on the road 11th ranked Leganes (5-7) 69-58 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Ainhoa Lacorzana (179-2000) who led the winners and scored 16 points. Venezuelan point guard Roselis Silva (166-1991, college: Arkansas Tech) accounted for 6 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Bembibre's coach Pepe Vazquez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Vionise Pierre-Louis (193-1995, college: Oklahoma) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and forward Cecilia Muhate (188-1997, college: Ole Miss) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Leganes in the defeat. Bembibre moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Leganes. Bembibre will meet at home higher ranked Ensino (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leganes will play against Estudiantes in Madrid and hope to secure a win.
