Regular Season Round 13: Strasbourg - ASVEL 70-95
Date: December 17, 2022
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Strasbourg (7-7) was outscored at home by third ranked ASVEL (11-3) 95-70 on Saturday. ASVEL dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Strasbourg's 44. They outrebounded Strasbourg 45-30 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Zaccharie Risacher (200-2005) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and Danish-Israeli point guard Noam Yaacov (186-2004) accounted for 19 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Four ASVEL players scored in double figures. Guard Bastien Rieber (187-2005) came up with 19 points and 4 assists and British forward Michael Belle (200-2003) added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals respectively for Strasbourg in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for ASVEL. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Limoges CSP and Levallois. Loser Strasbourg keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Nancy. ASVEL will meet Monaco (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Strasbourg will play against Blois (#5) and hope to secure a win.
